50 Cent Holds Album Hostage From Interscope

For a long time, 50 Cent has been talking about releasing his fifth album. The former title for the set was “Black Magic.” He told reporters in May 2010 that he had been inspired by the way club music had shifted from hip-hop beats into more of dance music. He said his new album would combine these two different styles of music. The rapper added that he had gone to an after party at a nightclub. The music going on is different before you get there, he said. When you come they start playing your music. The music they were playing before they began to play mine was more dance, more uptempo. I want to make songs like that.

However in November 2010, 50 Cent announced after he had recorded 20 songs that reflected an entirely different album concept, that he had set them aside and made the decision that he would call his next release “Detox,” promising it would be “2011 Get Rich Or Die Trying.” However, the hardships weren’t over yet.

In June, 50 Cent tweeted that he and Interscope Records, his record label, disagreed on what the best way was to release the album as well as that the executives had made the decision to postpone the release of the album until they had reached common ground. He added, I tried being cool with the label. I’d go to meetings and talk with everybody. It feels like everything is in slow motion. I am sorry to have to announce that I won’t be releasing my new album any time this year unless we can get onto the same page. I’d rather not release my album unless I have a plan and entire system to execute. I’m not sure why they try to play me. They know just how I can get.

There have continued to be problems. On Wednesday 50 Cent tweeted that he had decided to apply some pressure onto Interscope for them to devise a plan to get “Detox” out. He threatened to leak the single from Dr. Dre off the album. I am not releasing the album, he said. I can’t believe how f*cked up Interscope is right now. To my fans, I apologize. I do love Dre. I am put “Psycho,” his next single out at 2:00 tomorrow. You will love it. This song is big. This doesn’t deserve a great set up. In terms of me they can’t ever seem to get things right.

It doesn’t make a lot of sense that to promote the new album (which the record company refuses to release), that 50 Cent will choose a song from it that he thinks is least likely to be enjoyed by listeners and then release it. However it doesn’t look like 50 Cent followed through on his threat. It might have been the smartest choice. Now he is starting to appear like a has-been who is begging to have a comeback.

Rihanna teams with 50 cent to find donor for sick baby

Worldwide chart topper Rihanna is saving a little girl’s life, or at least she’s trying to after having her blood and bone marrow screened and calling out on some of her friends and fans to the same.

“Can you help me find a lifesaver for baby Ayelet and other patients? Get swabbed (tested) because maybe You can save a life!” was Rihanna’s tweet in an effort to gather more bone marrow donors for Ayelet Galena, a one-year old patient fighting for dear life after being diagnosed with a rare bone marrow disorder, leaving with her a severely compromised immune system.

Aside from RiRi, 50 Cent also had himself screened to see if he could be lined up among the much needed donors for Baby Ayelet. Leighton Meester, best known as Blair in the CW series ‘Gossip Girl’, rapper and producer Pharrell Williams and rap metal act Linkin Park were all influenced by the singers’ selflessness that they also decided to do the same and encouraged their own fans and friends to partake in the act as well.

Rihanna has always been known to have a soft spot for young ailing patients. In 2009, she, along with President Barack Obama, helped six-year old leukemia patient Jasmina Anema. She did get the bone marrow transplant she needed within the same year, but still lost her fight for life after contracting pneumonia.

The ‘S&M’ singer expressed her grief over Jasmina’s death via a statement. “I am incredibly heartbroken that Jasmina has passed away. She was such a brave and special child. She showed me more strength and spirit that many adults I have met. I feel blessed that I was able to have her in my life and know that through her example, she has saved many lives. She was truly an angel on earth.”

50 Cent Rolls Out Tour Behind New Album

50 Cent will be launching a late spring tour of the US to support “Before I Self Destruct,” his newest studio album that was released last fall.

The outing will follow two months of dates in Europe for 50 Cent (born Curtis Jackson). The trek will be kicking off in Cleveland on May 28 and wrap up in Atlantic City on June 25.

The long delayed fourth album from the rapper, “Before I Self Destruct” was finally released last November. It had initially been scheduled to be released two years earlier, but had been held back so 50 Cent could concentrate on “Curtis,” a different album, which was released in 2007.

During the first week of its release, the new set sold 160,000 copies. A DVD movie with the same title comes packaged with the album. The movie was directed and written by Jackson and he is also in the starring role. The film tells the coming-of-age story of a youth from the inner city who is raised by his hard working single mother.

“Before I Self Destruct” features production from Mark Batson, Havoc, J Khalil and Dr. Dre and also features guest appearances from Governor Ne-Yo and Eminem. In January “Do You Think About Me,” the most recent single from the album, was released to radio stations.

50 Cent on the current tour has been introducing new material from his forthcoming album “Black Magic.” It is scheduled tentatively to be released this summer. The rapper in a recent interview withTim Westwood, British DJ, said the new album drew inspiration from European dance music.
