Cage the Elephant Set to Unleash the Music on U.S., U.K.
Cage the Elephant are set to embark on an extensive North American tour this spring, kicking off with a show at Coachella on April 12th, and wrapping in Oakland, California on May 20th.
In between, the band will make stops in San Diego, Houston, Boston, New York, Toronto and Denver, as well as plenty of other places.
The tour includes a mix of headlining shows with J Roddy Walston & The Business as support, and co-headlining dates with British indie band Foals. The band is supporting the release of their critically acclaimed third album Melophobia, which was released on October 8th 2013 via RCA Records.
Before Cage the Elephant head to American soil, however, they’ll be performing a run of shows (with Foals) across the UK and Europe. This leg of the trek launches on February 3rd with a show in London, and stops in Dublin, Manchester, Paris and Berlin, among other places.
Melophobia featured the single “Come a Little Closer”, which topped the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in the United States, giving the band their fourth number-one hit on the chart.
Foals, meanwhile, who hail from Oxford, have made several visits to the US over the past year, including a headlining tour last spring, as well as appearances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands since the release of their third album Holy Fire. The Flood & Moulder-produced album has received significant quantities of critical praise, having been nominated for the 2013 Mercury Prize and winning the Q Award for Best Live Act. Holy Fire was voted “Album of the Year” by fans in NME’s 2013 poll with their track “My Number” also picking up “Track of the Year.”
In October, Foals also released their first-ever DVD, entitled “Live at the Royal Albert Hall”, which was recorded during a sold-out show at the historic London venue on March 28th 2013
