Brad Paisley's Latest Album 'Play' Debuts at Number 1
This week Play, Brad Paisley’s new album, got a lot of juice. The album debuted as No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and sold almost 54,000 copies during the first week. Paisley performed “Start A Band,” the first single from the album, with Keith Urban at the 42nd CMA Awards. It was the first time that Paisley and Urban had performed the song in public.
The rehearsals and performance were on the Sommet Center stage in Nashville. However if they had practiced in the restroom that would have been quite appropriate, considering their history.
Brad said, the duet with Keith is something that I have always wanted to be able to do. When we had shows together when we were first starting our careers and were new guys opening for other people, we did lots of those together. One year at the Academy of Country Music’s Christmas party, the only place that was quiet was in the men’s bathroom. We went in and sat up against the wall to work out a duet for the party. That was a lot of fun. When I called Keith up about this and said we need to just get together so we can work something out, Keith said well we will just find a bathroom.
On Sunday the GAC programming will focus on Brad. There will be four shows in a row centering on Paisley. At 8 p.m. ET it will begin with the show “Brad Paisley Makes a Video” that focuses on the song “Waitin’ On A Woman,” winner of the 42nd CMA Music Video of the Year award. It will be followed by “Brad Paisley: 5th Gear,” which comes from “Brad Paisley: Online” and “Conversations From the Road.”
