black keys Biography

The blues rock duo The Black Keys was formed in 2001 in Akron, Ohio and consists of Patrick Carney (drummer/producer) and Dan Auerbach (guitarist/vocalist). The band through October 2010 has sold more than 1.7 million albums.

In 2002, The Black Keys released “The Big Come Up.” Two singles were spawned off the album: “She Said, She Said” and “Leavin' Trunk,” both cover songs. In 2003, they released their second album “Thickfreakness.” The set spawned three singles: “Hard Row,” “Set You Free,” and “Have Love, Will Travel.” Then in 2004 their third album “Rubber Factory” was released, with featured singles “Girl Is On My Mind,” “Til I Get My Way” and “10 A.M. Automatic.”

The band's first release with Nonesuch Records was “Magic Potion,” their fourth album, which came out in 2006. There were three featured singles from the set: “Just Got To Be,” “Your Touch” and “You're the One.” The fifth album from the band, “Attack & Release,” was released in 2008. The set debuted in the No. 14 set on Billboard's 200 chart. The latest album from the Black Keys is “Brothers,” which was released in 2010.
