BET Experience at L.A. Live Snags Beyonce, R Kelly, Snoop
When Beyonce announced her new world tour shortly after her Super Bowl halftime performance, it was revealed that the first date would be at the BET Experience, a festival in Los Angeles coinciding with the annual BET Awards. The three-day festival also will feature headliners Snoop Dogg and R. Kelly.
The festival takes place June 28-30 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, as well as the L.A. Live entertainment complex, which is adjacent to the Staples arena. In addition to the headliners, the inaugural event also will feature Kendrick Lamar, New Edition, Miguel and Schoolboy Q, the Roots, Kirk Franklin, Mike Epps and Erykah Badu. The latter four artists will perform at Club Nokia.
In addition to the music performances, the Experience will feature an exhibit for the Grammy Museum, seminars, a live taping of BET’s “106 & Park” and film screenings.
Tickets begin at $199 for a three day package, and go on sale to the public on February 11. A BET presale starts today, February 5. Additionally, the event features three different VIP packages, with the most extensive being the Diamond Package that starts at $3,995. The package includes “Ultra Premium” tickets to the BET Awards, as well as the concerts at the Staples Center. It also includes a premium ticket to all Club Nokia shows and entrance to the Red Carpet before the awards show, as well as other perks.
Beyonce’s appearance at the festival marks the beginning of the North American leg of her first world tour in over three years. During her appearance at the Super Bowl, Beyonce reunited with former Destiny’s Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. The trio just released its first new song in eight years last month. The song, “Nuclear,” is produced by Pharrell and appears on the groups compilation album Love Songs.
