Beale Street Music Festival

Festival Dates: May 2 – 4, 2014

The Beale Street Music Festival is the kickoff event of Memphis in May, a month-long cultural festival, which showcases a mix of local and international acts. The event runs for 3 days in the first weekend of May. Although it was officially added to the festivities of Memphis in May a year after it began in 1977, The Beale Street Music Festival can trace it roots all the way back to the 1800′s when African American musicians would come from all over the South to the place where Blues and Rock n Roll was born, Beale Street in Memphis.

Van Morrison, Al Green, Steely Dan, and Dave Matthews Band are just some of the act that have come to Beale Street along the Mississippi to kick off the Memphis in May celebrations.
