Barbra Streisand Adds Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Jose Concerts
As Barbra Streisand has been slowly revealing new fall concert dates this year, she’s effectively left the western half of the United States neglected. Three newly announced dates change that.
The first of the new shows will take place November 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, with the second following on November 5 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. Streisand will then head to Los Angeles to perform at the Hollywood Bowl on November 9.
These dates tack on to the previously announced fall tour dates that kick off October 8 in Philadelphia. After that, the legendary singer will perform two homecoming dates at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on October 11 and October 13. Throughout the rest of October, she will perform shows in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Chicago and Vancouver.
There is no indication at this time whether more dates will be added to the tour in future weeks. All concerts will feature special guests Chris Botti and Il Volo.
The fall tour will support the upcoming compilation album, Release Me, which will be released on vinyl on September 25 (a CD version will be available October 9). The album features 11 previously unreleased tracks recorded by Streisand throughout her career from 1963 until now.
“The thing I’m happiest about is that I still have great affection for all these songs,” Streisand said about the album in a statement. “They appealed to me at the time… and still do. Listening now, I actually think to myself, ‘The girl wasn’t half bad.’”
Streisand’s longtime A&R man Jay Landers wrote the liner notes for the new compilation.
“All of Barbra’s glorious music… her ideas… the collaborative efforts of the fortunate songwriters, arrangers, mixers and producers who have come into her orbit… the experiments… the occasional missteps and the many triumphs – all driven by the unstoppable force of one woman’s vision,” Landers wrote in the liner notes.
