Avicii Takes Mix Tables on Road for Fall Tour
EDM mainstay Avicii will take his massive production around North America later this year for a fall tour.
The tour, which will include major markets as well as many stops at colleges across the country, will kick off August 31 at the Marquee Night Club in Las Vegas. The tour is then scheduled to run through Avicii’s already announced performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 12. In between, the Swedish DJ will also visit Miami, Las Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and Atlanta.
Avicii will bring his giant DJ booth that is shaped like a head around to every show. He debuted the setup at his two Coachella performances this year, and says it has taken some time to get used to the large scale production.
“Over time I’ve gotten more relaxed behind the decks; it’s a different setup than I’m used to,” he told Billboard recently. We’re always making changes. It’s crazy to see how [the show] keeps getting better and better.”
He also told the magazine that he is very excited to play the New York date, which will take place at Radio City Music Hall on September 27.
“There’s a bunch of dates [on the tour] I’m looking forward to, but definitely New York most of all,” he said.
Avicii undertook what was called the “world’s first-ever electronic dance music all arena tour,” early this year, and performed his DJ set at large arenas all around North America. All of the dates this year have been supporting his single “Levels,” which was officially released in October 2011, though it had already become a hit around the world by that time. The song features samples from Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold on Me.”
The artist also has released a number of remixes this year.
