American Idol Runner-up Jessica Sanchez Gets ‘Glee’ Gig
Adding even more intrigue to the already highly anticipated fourth season of “Glee” coming up this fall, it has now been announced that this year’s “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez will join the cast of the Fox show.
The 16-year-old singing sensation is reportedly in final negotiations to join the cast for a multi-episode arc this year. However, there has been no word yet on exactly what role she will play in the show.
Because she will be performing at venues around the country this summer with the “American Idol” tour, she won’t be able to join the show until at least sometime around the halfway mark of the season, which is set to begin this fall. Sanchez’s appearance will put her in the ranks of other high profile “Glee” guest stars including Neil Patrick Harris, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears.
Sanchez recently told MTV News that she is also at work on her first solo album.
“I don’t want people to just hand me music and be like, ‘Here, you sound good on this. Sing it.’ I want to be able to say, ‘This is me,’” she told the network. “This is going to seem odd, but I love Eminem, because he has so much conviction and emotion in the way he raps; every word that he raps, you feel it. And I think our talents would mesh. So, hopefully, it could happen, and I would just die if he’d collaborate with me.”
The “American Idol” tour is set to kick off early next month, and will hit 45 cities around North America before the summer is over. Joining Sanchez on the tour will be Joshua Ledet, Skylar Laine, Hollie Cavanagh and, of course, “Idol” winner Phillip Phillips, among others.
Though Sanchez ended up finishing second on the show, she was almost eliminated back in April before the judges used their one “save” to prevent her from being sent home early.
