alan jackson Biography

The country music singer Alan Jackson was born in Newnan, Georgia on October 17, 1958. He is known for blending mainstream country music and honky tonk and for writing many of his hit songs. Jackson has recorded and released 14 albums along with several compilations. They have all been with the Arista Nashville label. Over 50 of Jackson's singles have made Billboard's “Top 30 Country Songs” list, with 25 of them being number one hits. Jackson is a Grand Ole Opry member and has won multiple awards.

Alan Jackson released “Here in the Real World,” his debut album, in 1990 and “Don't Rock the Jukebox” in 1991. They were both major hits. He also released “A Lot About Livin (And a Little 'bout Love)” in 1992. The set was highly successful, spawned five major hit singles and hit the number one spot on Billboard's country chart. In 1992 Randy Travis also charted three hit singles that Jackson co-wrote. In 1994 Jackson released “Who I Am,” his fourth album. It reached number one and spawned five hit singles that all made it into the top ten of Billboard's U.S. country chart. During this time Jackson also co-wrote songs for Clay Walker, Chely Wright and Faith Hill.

Alan Jackson released “The Greatest Hits Collection” in October 1995 and “Under the Influence,” a set of country classic covers, in 1999. In 2006 he released “Precious Memories,” a gospel music album and also “Like Red on a Rose,” a country album with a more pop mainstream sound. In March 2008 Jackson released “Good Time,” a more traditional country set. “Freight Train,” Jackson's latest studio album, was released in March 2010.
