American singer-songwriter and actor Adam Lambert was born on January 29, 1982 in Indianapolis, Indiana and grew up in San Diego, California. He was runner-up of “American Idol” during the show's eighth season in 2009. Lambert was identified by The Times as one of only a few mainstream pop artists that are openly gay to launch their career in the U.S. with a major label.

In November 2009, “For Your Entertainment,” Lambert's debut album, was released. In December 2009 the set debuted in the No. 3 spot on Billboard's 200 chart by selling 198,000 copies during its first week out in the U.S. Lambert received a Grammy Award nomination in 2010 for his song “Whataya Want from Me” in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category.

Adam Lambert's first solo tour, “The Glam Nation Tour,” kicked off on June 4, 2010. He toured across the U.S. with Orianthi and Allison Iraheta, and in the fall of 2010 the tour went international. An acoustic EP was released by Lambert in December 2010 called “Acoustic Live!,” which had been recorded in different countries. It is expected that Lambert's second album will be released sometime in 2011.
