Adam Lambert Outs Himself to Rolling Stone

Adam Lambert kept fans guessing about his sexuality for months.

However all the speculation comes to an end in Rolling Stone’s next issue where the runner-up for American Idol opens up to reveal finally that he is gay.

Lambert says, I don’t think anyone should be surprised hearing that I am gay.

He added, when it comes to my sexuality I am very proud. I fully embrace it. That’s just another part of who I am.

Lambert, 27, gracing the cover of Rolling Stone, in the issue also discusses his childhood as well as his early acknowledgement to himself that wasn’t like all the other boys.

When the time came to apply for American Idol’s eighth season of singing competition, Burning Man, the drug fueled event that is held in Northern Nevada, was what inspired Lambert to chase his dream and passions after having spent many years involved in musical theater.

Lambert told Rolling Stone, I knew this was my one chance for being taken seriously by the recording industry. It’s broad and fast. I realized all of us have our own personal power. Whatever it was that I wanted to really do, it was I who needed to make that happen.

For this glamtastic rocker what that meant was playing using his own rules.

Lambert says, I said to myself, I will glue rhinestones onto my eyelids!

Although his sexuality has now been announced publicly, the young singer does admit that there still are some aspects of his life that he would like to keep private.

He says, I just want to be a good singer. I’m not trying to be a leader for civil rights.

In the interview Lambert also discusses his American Idol experience, what his true thoughts are on Kris Allen, the winner, as well as the impact his sexuality had on his Idol run. It’s all detailed in the cover story for the issue of Rolling Stone that hits all the newsstands on Friday.
