30 Seconds to Mars Closes 2009 with Tour
The alt-rockers band 30 Seconds To Mars announced a series of dates for late fall coinciding with the soon to be released “This Is War,” their long anticipated new album.
The ten dates begin in Salt Lake City on November 30, kicking a week off before the release date of the new album on December 8. The band from Los Angeles will celebrate the drop of the album with a Baton Rogue, LA show followed by three Midwest stops.
The new album “This is War” is the third studio set for the group and first since “A Beautiful Lie” in 2005. “King and Queens,” one of the album’s new tracks, is streaming on the band’s website.
30 Seconds to Mars, led by singer/guitarist/actor Jared Leto, worked with the producers Steve Lilywhite (U2, Rolling Stones) and Flood (Nine Inch Nail, Depeche Mode) on their new album.
The band has also rallied their fan community, which goes by the name of The Echelon. In April the band invited them to the Avalon Club in Hollywood, CA for a recording session that was completely impromptu called “The Summit.” Fans by the hundreds responded to the opportunity of contributing percussion and vocals on the new album. Due to the experience being so successful, the decision was made by the band to host but not attend an additional eight summits during the summer in countries all over the world, including Mexico, Italy and Australia.
Leto said in a Kerrang magazine interview, something magical occurs when people come together as a group and share in a public experience. Then we harness the collective consciousness, the energy, and apply that in a way that is musical.
