Concert Review: Katy Perry Atlantic City

During this decade a female singer who is cute with catchy songs and lots energy is able to go quite far in today’s music business.

One prime example is Katy Perry, former Christian music artist turned pop singer, who formerly went by the name of Katy Hudson.

On Thursday, the guitarist-songwriter-singer made her debut at an Atlantic City casino at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s Event Center. The concert was nearly sold out.

Pixies Plan to Resurrect 'Doolittle' on New Concert Tour

The Pixies, a month after announcing their plans to celebrate “Doolittle’s” 20th anniversary, their classic album from 1989, with a tour of Euorpe have announced plans to also have a US run.

The newly announced US outing will kick off in Los Angeles on November 4. It will visit nine cities across the US through the end of the month and include multiple night stands in New York City, Chicago, Seattle and Oakland, CA. Tickets will be hitting the box office in August as well as September on various dates.

The Pixies, comprised of David Lovering, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and Black Francis, on their tour will be playing the entire “Doolittle” album, including the album’s associated B-sides.

Joel’s Flu Cancels Several Face2Face Tour Dates

Billy Joel’s camp informed tour officials that the double bill Billy Joel and Elton John tour was suspended late last week when Joel developed flu-like symptoms. Concerts scheduled for July 24 in Buffalo, NY and July 27 in Albany, NY have been postponed. Joel, age 60, was told by his doctors to rest for a period of 72 hours.

Green Day Takes Inspired Art on the Road

As they make their way across North America, Green Day has added to their tour in progress a gallery that includes visual artistic renderings for songs from “21st Century Breakdown,” the band’s latest album. The roving gallery show draws from the work of 17 different international artists who have created works of art that were inspired by the album’s 18 songs. Brian Wilson Shakes off Sand for 2009 Fall Tour

Former Beach Boy Brian Wilson is ready to hit the road this fall to tour in support of his most recent album “That Lucky Old Sun.” The 17-date tour will start at the Soaring Eagle in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin on October 23 and make its way to Stateline, Nevada to wrap things up on December 5 at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. These dates come after Wilson makes a short stint in the UK (view dates).

Raveonettes Toast Fall Tour

The Raveonettes have a new album ready for store shelves on October 6 entitled “In and Out of Control” and a slew of fall tour dates to go along with it. The 19-date road trip will start at Webster Hall in New York on October 14 and finish November 15 in Las Vegas.

John Mayer Sets Sail on 2nd Annual Mayercraft Cruise

On the inaugural cruise of the Mayercraft, John Mayer had so much fun that he had decided he will do it again. On March 27, 2009, the four night cruise, called Mayercraft Carrier 2, will be leaving Long Beach and then spend one day in the city of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. According to the website for the event, this party on the sea aboard Carnival Splendor’s cruise ship will include theme nights, contests and non-stop music. Guster, the alternative rockers, is the first act to be announced. Many more will participate.

Placebo Launches North American Tour

Placebo will be jumping the pond to tour North American hot on the heals of their highly anticipated album “Battle for the Sun.” The tour will break ground in Portland, Oregon on September 12 then close on October 11 at Terminal 5 in New York. The group is currently hitting the festival circuit in Europe as a precursor to the US jaunt and will return for more dates spanning through December.

Moby Get Instrumental on Fall Tour

Moby may be best known for spinning the turntables to form his unique sound, but he’ll be leaving his comfort zone for his upcoming fall tour in support of his latest album ‘Wait for Me.’ ‘Wait’ was released into the wild last month, and debuted at 22 on the Billboard album charts. These Moby tour dates will mark the first time he’s been on the road with a live band since 2005. The band will be comprised of friend Kelli Scarr as well as tba drummer, bassist and violinist.

Daughtry’s ‘Leave this Town’ Debuts at 1 on Billboard Album Charts

This week Daughtry’s second album “Leave This Town” is toping the US album chart. During the first week out in stores the album sold 269,000 copies. It marks the second consecutive album for Daughtry to make it to No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 chart. In January 2007 the self-titled debut album for the band was No. 1 as well.
